New art forms are being born using a wide array of computer software in the direct-to-disk creation of imagery. Not to be confused with mere reproductions of existing artworks that have been digitized, these are created entirely by an artist working on a computer. Print-outs for these works employ archival papers and inks. The subject matter can be completely realistic or completely abstract or any combination.
