The high Sonoran desert ambiance of New Mexico and Arizona is one of earth and fire, the components of ceramic and glass art. Regional artists respond by creating myriad interesting objects utilizing these mediums, pushing their formal limits even while celebrating their traditions.

Ceramic artists produce sculpture, vases and architecturally scaled vessels as well as a bewildering variety of production pottery. Glass artists also produce exquisite stemware, vases and bowls, but they go on to create objets d'art and serious sculptures. There are even open studios where the public is invited to watch these intricate production processes.
