The Museum of International Folk Art remote in Santa Fe has one of the most important collections in the world, providing an unrivaled overview of the subject. Its mere presence over the past few decades has stimulated gallery trade of folk art.

The early Spanish settlers brought their European heritage to bear upon the primitive living conditions they found four centuries ago, creating a definitive folk tradition. Their santos, wood carvings, tinwork, weavings, colcha embroidery and furniture are featured annually in the Traditional Spanish Market remote on Santa Fe Plaza at the end of July as well as in many galleries year round.
