Color Run Removal

A hand-driven technique to remove color run only where it exists, not disturbing original color in other areas. Depth of color run, extent of the run and intricacy of design are considerations in determining charges. Combined with washing US$15.00 per sq/ft and up.

Restoration

Reweaving of Navajo rugs and blankets, Oriental rugs and kilims. Yarns spun and dyed to match original. Hourly rates:

Navajo homespun rugs US$45.00

Classic blankets and Germantowns US$65

Oriental piled rugs and kilims US$45

Hanging Systems

All of our hanging systems are sewn around the warping (the foundation) of the textile to prevent sagging, the natural result of the pull of gravity. The system is also sewn just below the edge and is not visible, thereby not obscuring the textile in any way, nor is it visible to the viewer.

Rod and Sleeve: Cotton twill fabric is sewn around the warping, through which a rod is inserted. Homespun rugs US$35.00 per linear foot. Germantown and Classic Blankets US$55.00 per linear foot.

Moth Protection

We apply a water soluble spray that provides protection against infestation for two years from the date of application or until the textile is washed again, whichever comes first. The spray is undetectable to humans and cannot be felt, seen or smelled. 50 cents per sq/foot. US$20.00 minimum.

Padding

We are proud to offer Jade padding, guaranteed by the manufacturer not to disintegrate and stick to the rug or flooring. This padding is exclusively for use on hard surface flooring and comes in a variety of thicknesses. US$3.25 per sq/foot and up.

Appraisals

A thorough examination of the textile, including dyes used, area of origin, condition information, age and retail replacement value is provided at a charge of US$50.00 per rug.

Damage Evaluation for Insurance

When loss is suffered through damage done by fire, smoke or water, we provide a cost quotation for restoration. US$50.00 per rug.

Buying and Selling

We are very active in the marketplace, carrying an extensive collection of Navajo rugs and blankets. Our inventory focuses primarily on pre-1950 rugs. We also locate items for sale through other dealers, looking for that sometimes hard-to-find rug or blanket.

Shipping/Payment and Completion Times

Our clients ship to us, using United Parcel Service, the U.S. Post Office and Federal Express. We use FedEx for return shipping.

When you ship to us, we ask that you include a note with your name, street address and a phone number where you can be reached during business hours, Monday through Friday. We will call you within two business days of receiving your package to let you know exactly the cost of the work you are interested in and to share any other observations we might make about your rug(s).

You will be billed at the completion of the work and upon receipt of your check, your shipment will be sent. Sorry, but we do not accept credit cards at this time.

Cleaning can generally be completed within four weeks of receiving your approval. Restoration is done following the cleaning and will add to the total time required based upon the nature and extent of the damage. An exact date for completion of all work is provided once your instructions are received.
