The R.C. Gorman/Nizhoni Gallery staff is further dedicated to continuing the legacy of renowned artist R.C. Gorman, who was once hailed by the New York Times as the Picasso of American Indian art. Born in July 1931 in Chinle, Arizona, Gorman, who was son to the famed Navajo painter and WWII Code Talker Carl Gorman, followed his father's artistic footsteps and went on to carve new pathways for Native American artists who were fighting against the unrealistic artistic definitions and native-art stereotypes.
In conjunction with the new and classic works of R.C. Gorman, the Nizhoni Gallery also features other acclaimed artists such as Martha Pettigrew, Robert Rivera and Bev Doolittle along with Guilloume, Lawrence Vargas and Howard Terpning. Luxuriate in the vivid colors and stirring, awe-inspiring works that reperesent Southwest and Native American imagery at its finest. |
