Howard Mehring (1931-1978): Washington Color School Painter
Mehring first drew inspiration from a visit to Helen Frankenthaler's studio where he took note of her staining technique on raw canvas creativing rich tones and surfaces. Later on he developed a style of subtle geometry through provocative combinations of vibrant colors and defined shapes.

In conjunction with Blumenschein exhibition. Lecture by Skip Miller, Archaeologist, Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. Taos artists painted during a turbulent time for their Native American friends and neighbors. El Pintor, Perfiles de Mujer / The Painter, Profiles of Woman
A modernistic, biographical and historical flamenco dance drama set in Cordova, Spain. The story recounts the life of legendary and prolific Spanish painter Julio Romero de Torres from his women models' perspectives. Set to original music recorded in Madrid and a compilation of Torres' paintings. Theresa Cardenas, a native of Santa Fe, is the producer, writer and artistic director of El Pintor. Pablo Rodarte, a native of Spain, is the guest choreographer. 7/3 through 7/23 (no performance on Mondays).
