Lecture: High Contrast: The Enduring Paradox of Native Photography
Stark comparisons of the traditional and the modern have informed the visualization of Native Americans from colonization to the present. Early contemporary Native photographer Horace Poolaw (1906–1984) created a dialogue with modernism through his adoption of composite narratives steeped in the cosmopolitan realism of the early 20th century. Lecture by Nancy Mithlo, Assistant Professor, Art History and American Indian Studies Department, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

WolffClark Expedition: Michael Wolff, Mike Clark & Michael Olivola
WolffClark Expedition, is co-led by pianist Michael Wolff and drummer Mike Clark who both began their careers in the Bay Area in the 1970s. The music of the WolffClark Expedition combines Wolff and Clark’s looseness and experimental jazz natures with their funky roots. They play deconstructed takes on standards as well as original compositions. Now based in ABQ, the ubiqiuitous bassist Michael Olivola played with Mike Clark during the “Herbie Hancock days” when they both lived in the Bay Area. Later living in NYC, they continued to play together in the bands of such greats as Steve Turre and Onaje Allen Gumbs.

Twenty Years of Monotypes - Janet Lippincott (1918-2007)
"Janet was truly fearless in her approach to materials," says Karan Ruhlen, who represented Lippincott during her lifetime and now represents her estate. “The chine collé monotypes of the 90’s are particularly good examples of her command of the medium in what might at first appear to be random or even chance compositions."

Meow Wolf Performance
As part of the Time-Lapse exhibition at SITE Santa Fe, Santa Fe-based collective Meow Wolf will present a series of flowing performance, discussion, and moving image meditation that will slip into and out of the Time Capsule Lounge's expanse of space and time, activating the room with a theater piece, video projection morphing and manipulating the interpretation of motion within space, and a two-man philosophical conversation exploring the basic question "Is Time Real?". More rogue-like moments will include spontaneous poetry and dance, costumed characters, and live creation of visual art. The performance is free to the public, as is admission to the exhibition (always free on Fridays).
