Douglas Fryer: Beyond the Fences
Douglas Fryer's landscapes range from timeless imagery painted with serene clarity to atmospheric scenes with an edge of mystery. The Utah artist sees his aesthetic evolving towards the latter as he paints slightly more non-objective works that suggest, rather than explain reality with simplified forms and broad passages of color and texture. This shift will be apparent in Fryer's upcoming exhibition at Meyer Gallery, "Beyond the Fences," opening Friday December 8th from 5-7pm. The show will be on display through December 14th.

Jhenna Quinn Lewis: Solo Exhibition
In Jhenna Quinn Lewis' focused still life paintings, little birds perch next to elegant Japanese bowls, exist peacefully among stacks of frayed books, or mischievously hold shiny found objects in their small pointed beaks. The elusive animals explore romantic environments away from their natural habitat, bringing a Renaissance or folklore-feel to her graceful, simplistic compositions. However a recent artist residency in California's Lassen Volcanic National Park afforded Lewis the space, emotionally and physically, to observe birds in the wild. This experience has influenced many new paintings for her upcoming exhibition at Meyer Gallery, which opens on Friday, December 15th and runs through December 31st.
