NOSTALGIC REALISM WITH A MODERN VISION: NATALIE FEATHERSTON AND ROBERT LADUKE

LaDuke's cartoon-like paintings will hang alongside Featherston's whimsical still-lifes for their upcoming group exhibition at Meyer Gallery; the two-artist show will open on Friday, September 29th from 5-7pm and will remain on display through October 5th.

Jacob Pfeiffer: Suspension
Jacob Pfeiffer's startlingly realistic paintings challenge, yet humor the viewer as the artist balances serious technical painting skills with lighthearted visual metaphors. By titling each piece with clever puns or idioms, Pfeiffer reveals deeper narratives that are suggested through the painting's ironic imagery. For his upcoming exhibition, the artist's satirical wordplay is extended into the show's title. For "Suspensions," Pfeiffer will debut a body of work that portrays visually suspended objects that seek to simultaneously hold the viewer's attention as we predict the outcome of each implied scenario. The exhibition will open on Friday, October 6th from 5-7pm and will remain on display through October 19th.

Ricardo Fernandez Ortega: Overflight
Mexican artist Ricardo Fernandez Ortega's fantastical figurative paintings reveal the alluring and mysterious essence of the feminine. Whether drifting through the night sky, taking flight with feathered wings or shining in elaborate armored outfits, Ortega's figures exist in worlds conjured through dreams and imagination. His upcoming solo exhibition of new work, "Overflight," opens Friday, October 20th with an opening reception from 5-7pm at Meyer Gallery. The show will remain on display through November 2nd.
