Albert Handell
Widely appreciated for his mastery of oil and pastel mediums, Handell has co-authored 5 books on painting and has conducted countless workshops and paint-alongs in the United States and Europe. A painter since his childhood in Brooklyn, New York, Handell has lived and worked in Santa Fe for the past quarter-century. He was recently honored with a three-month retrospective of his pastels at the Butler Institute for American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, and is credited with making pastel a viable plein-air medium and being a leader in dispelling misconceptions about this delicate-looking but long-lasting medium.
