 Potomac - Pastel Paintings by Iva Morris
Iva Morris’ pastel paintings burst of color, light, and an emotional connection to the rivers and desert landscapes she portrays. This particular show is an exploration of water, river bottoms, the geology and the ecology of a river system, particularly the Potomac where she grew up. Morris reflects on her special relationship with that river - the cadence of her rhythm, the rise and fall of her flow, the colors, texture and mood that changes with every season. Dreaming the landscape or painting the landscape is shared, both with those who love the place and with those who want to remember it always.

 Thresholds - Paintings by Sally Condon
A long time gardener and keeper of bees, Condon’s abstract oil paintings celebrate her feelings of connection to the natural world. She uses her own bees wax and organic materials to create softly colored and richly layered abstract images. Condon believes in beauty and its ability to open our senses to sensations and feelings long held or forgotten. Her paintings are quiet, almost meditative, yet fun and unconventional. The smooth surfaces of her pieces are mesmerizing but they also inspire to look deep, to scratch through the layers to discover what is underneath.
