Jhenna Quinn Lewis: Solo Exhibition
In Jhenna Quinn Lewis' focused still life paintings,
little birds perch next to elegant Japanese bowls, exist peacefully among stacks of
frayed books, or mischievously hold shiny found objects in their small pointed beaks.
The elusive animals explore romantic environments away from their natural habitat,
bringing a Renaissance or folklore-feel to her graceful, simplistic compositions.
However a recent artist residency in California's Lassen Volcanic National Park
afforded Lewis the space, emotionally and physically, to observe birds in the wild.
This experience has influenced many new paintings for her upcoming exhibition at
Meyer Gallery, which opens on Friday, December 15th and runs through December 31st.
