Flight of Fancy: The Birds and Imagined Landscapes of Barbara Carter
Birds are often seen as bridges to another world, as intermediaries between heaven and earth. In Chinese mythology, the powerful wings of the crane were believed to be able to convey souls up to paradise. In this body of work, birds carry us into imagined landscapes, created from captured and digitally constructed elements.

Heritage Day at Casa San Ysidro
As part of the Heritage Day activities the public is invited to tour the rooms of Casa San Ysidro and enjoy live music and artist demonstrations. Inside the adobe walls visitors will find Spanish Colonial furniture, authentic handwoven floor coverings, hand forged iron tools, an impressive loom made in the late 1700s and a New Deal-era hand carved chair. Museum docents will be on hand to answer questions and share the history of this special house.
