Librare researches and evaluates antique and rare printed books from the 16th to the 20th century, including American and European editions. We can discuss your objectives, establish the types of services you require, and create a service proposal according to your needs. Appropriate documentation is formatted according to your specifications, whether for insurance purposes, estate planning, or inventory cataloging. Advise on options to sell your book(s) and assistance to do so can also be provided. In determining value, an initial assessment is conducted to grade the condition of your book(s). Then, comparable editions are thoroughly researched utilizing a variety of resources. Values are based on historic sales records and current market pricing, as well as considerations for condition grades.

 

Beverly Weiss has over 25 years of experience researching and pricing fine art and antiques for commercial galleries in New York, California, and New Mexico. She has appraised rare books for institutions, galleries, and individuals over the last nine years. Her professional experience includes collections research and exhibition work for the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, NM, the Turtle Bay Museum in Redding, CA, and the Center for Environmental Economic Development in Arcata, CA. She also contributed research to the publications Sudden and Solitary: Mount Shasta and Its Artistic Legacy, 1841−2008 (Heyday Books, 2008) and Turquoise, Water, Sky: Meaning and Beauty in Southwest Native Arts (Museum of New Mexico Press, 2015).
