Suchitra Bhosle has immersed herself in learning, experimenting, and developing her skills and style by studying the works of masters that appeal to her, such as John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, Nicolai Fechin and Jules Bastien-Lepage. The beauty of the female figure fascinates Suchitra and has been her focus. She strives to depict the atmosphere of the setting, and the mood of the model. She is aided in this by her study of the technical anatomical underpinnings that provide the foundation of her paintings, and the knowledge of use of color.

"Cloudbreaking"
Mixed media, 36" x 36"

Cary Henrie was born in 1961 and was educated at Pratt Institute in New York City. His paintings are created by a unique process of combining oils and acrylics layered upon canvas. With each piece, he spends hours layering his canvas with additive and subtractive methods: sanding, varnishing, taping, adding paint, burnishing and removing layers of paint. Henrie's highly textural process enhances the depth and sophistication of each work of art, and the result is a fresco-like patina on a weathered surface. The artist says of his work, "I really try to capture a symbolic or time weathered scene or landscape with an abstract sensibility." Aside from a western looking facade, Cary Henrie draws much inspiration from Italian frescos and his time spent in New York museums.

"Canal Canyon"
Oil, 30" x 30"

Fryer's works express an enchanting calm found in solitude but not isolation. In his paintings Mother Nature is quietly at work. Spring grass will overtake, but not dominate the pale grasses stripped of color by winters endless chill. Architecture is another aspect of Fryer's work, weathered barns or hand made fences, the lonely posts of the American west are bent, twisted and sculpted by the elements.

"Cat's Eyes"
Oil, 23" x 27"

There is a quiet sophistication in Milt Kobayashi's oil painted canvases, summoning a pensive, ethereal feeling in the viewer. Kobayashi's subjects are people from another time and place and, yet, they are strangely familiar. They are urban dwellers lost in thought as they take a momentary respite from their routine. Kobayashi's people are absorbed in the world of contemplation and meditation -- making them attractively aloof.

Whether in oil or pastel, the portraits of Linda Kyser Smith show us a unique view of her world. Much of her work centers on painting people, and she admits it will probably always be her first love. Known for her character studies, mood portraits, and formal portraits, Linda much prefers painting the figure from life. "When I am involved and interacting with those I paint, I find that I can capture a more intimate and accurate portrayal. It allows me to strive for the freshness of the moment." Linda loves to teach, always includes the basic principles of design and color theory. Her goal is to give students the skills in seeing and painting that will allow them to open up their own unique vision
