Living and painting in Santa Fe, I have a great sense of awe and appreciation of the beauty of Northern New Mexico. The quality of its light, colors, natural and man-made patterns, vast and intimate spaces and its cultural diversity surround me.

I was brought up in the Boston area, but spent many childhood visits to New Mexico before I began to see it with a painter's eye.

I graduated from Harvard University with honors in Anthropology and Archaeology while raising a family of three lively sons.

I have also studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, taken Art History courses at the Radcliffe Seminars, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Boston Museum School. I have also made 5 short animal films with my then-husband, Peter Chermayeff, after 3 amazing months living and filming in East Africa. I studied with several fine artists as I was emerging as a painter and as I continue in this profession.

While painting back East I was well-known for very subtle paintings of people at the ocean's edge. Now, my colors and compositions have grown much more intense.

The joy of 'seeing' and my pleasure in the process of painting lead me in many diverse directions and I am often surprised by what catches my attention. For instance, my "Sisters" paintings emerged from seeing paintings of 17th and 18th C. young nuns as "Brides of Christ" on my trips to Mexico.

In November/December 2002, I had a one woman exhibition at the Hoorn-Ashby Gallery, 766 Madison Ave, New York City. They carry some of my paintings year-round.

I live in an old adobe house on Canyon Road, painting and exhibiting from my pretty Studio behind it.
