Timless and romantic, Rod Hubble's oil paintings combine masterful drawing with energetic feeling. His subjects range from figurative to landscape with emphasis on color and design. The figures in a Hubble oil are often transfixed in time, exploring eternity or meditating on nature, as the artist often does, both formally and in the field painting en plein air. "It is the conversation with nature I try to interpret on canvas."
Self taught, Hubble began drawing and painting at an early age, and has been a full time painter since 1973. His works are in hundreds of private collections, and numerous corporate, museum and public collections, including the prestigious State Capitol Collection in Santa Fe.
The artist owned and operated his own gallery on Canyon Road for many years, and is now painting full time again in his home studio in Santa Fe. Hubble welcomes visitors to his home studio and regularly entertains his many collectors and friends.
