The Sangre de Cristo Chorale performs high-quality a-cappella vocal music for Northern New Mexico, primarily in Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Albuquerque. The member managed choral ensemble was formed in 1978. In accordance with its charter, the Chorale invites several talented high school interns to sing each year, provides music scholarships to college freshmen, and performs outreach concerts to support vocal music programs in New Mexico high schools.

Madame Butterfly opened the first season in 1957, the rebuilt theater in 1968, and the totally-refurbished Opera Theater in 1998. All productions have simultaneous translations at every seat.
