The Spanish Colonial Arts Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1925 in Santa Fe to encourage and promote Spanish Colonial arts and crafts and to inform and educate the public about traditional media designs and techniques. The SWAIA has sponsored Santa Fe Indian Market since 1922. This is the oldest and largest exhibition and sale of American Indian art in the world, with more than 1100 artists participating. The event takes place in and around Santa Fe Plaza in mid-August each year.
